The Maze Runner by James Dashner : review

The Maze Runner by James Dashner
Published by: Delacorte press
Publication date: October 6th 2009
Genres: Young Adult, Dystopia, Survival

If you ain’t scared, you ain’t human.

When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his name. He’s surrounded by strangers—boys whose memories are also gone.

Nice to meet ya, shank. Welcome to the Glade.

Outside the towering stone walls that surround the Glade is a limitless, ever-changing maze. It’s the only way out—and no one’s ever made it through alive.

Everything is going to change.

Then a girl arrives. The first girl ever. And the message she delivers is terrifying.

Remember. Survive. Run.

Thoughts

I really enjoyed this book. I feel like I start all my reviews like this but I really enjoyed most books that I read. I was pressurized into reading this book by my friend who loves this series and I finally got round to reading it.

This book was such a page turner for me. There was never a dull moment, I didn't want to put it down. I do have to admit there were somethings that didn't quite make sense like the ending with Gally (trying really hard not to spoil it for anyone) and why Teresa and Thomas could use telepathy. But apart from that I found all the characters really interesting, I liked them all in there own individual way and cried a lot when a certain character died at the end.

I am giving this book a 3.5 out of 5. I don't know why but I just can't give it a four. I am definitely continuing with the series but after I have read half wild (which is coming out on Tuesday. SCREAM). I am going to do a review of the film when I get round to watching it.

  1. I'm going to read this book, but you know, school makes me spend my free time with math or science... -_-

Ehm, if you were interested - I'm Czech. :)

    1. That's amazing to think someone from Czech republic is reading my blog. Thanks so much. And I know what you mean about school, it really messes with my reading time to. If you ever get round to reading the book I would love to hear your thoughts on it, you can email me at lovelaces@hotmail.com.
