Top 5 books I read this year

Hi Guys

This week's top 5 is favourite books of the year. As usual they are not in any particular order.

1. Half Bad by Sally Green
This book was so fantastic I had a book hangover for 3 weeks. I am completely unable to put into words how amazing this book is. Can't wait until the second book comes out on the 24th March next year.

2. Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Claire
This year I finally got round to reading the infernal devices and mortal instruments (thought I haven't finished the mortal instruments yet). I choose Clockwork angel is my favourite in both series so far.

3. Of Mice and Men
I originally saw the play and I cried so much at the ending no one on my row heard the last 15 minutes. So obviously I had to read the book and it was 103 pages of pure genius I loved ever single second and in all honesty I probably cried more the second time round.

4. Demon glass by Rachel Hawkins
I think I would have to write a whole blog explaining why this is one of my favourite books of the year so I will just say you should read it cause it's really good.

5. Divergent by Veronica Roth
I watched the movie before reading the book and I knew everything that was going to happen before reading the books and I still enjoy this book immensely. I believe half the reason was the Veronica Roth has such an amazing writing style that I would happily read her grocery list.

The Giver by Lois Lowry : review

Hi guys

Today I am reviewing 'The Giver' by Lois Lowry

Picture

Summary:

The giver is about a boy called Jonas who lives in a world were everything is under control. There is no war or fear or pain. There are no choices. Every person is assigned a role in the Community. When Jonas turns twelve, he is singled out to receive special training from The Giver. The Giver alone holds the memories of the true pain and pleasure of life. Now, it is time for Jonas to receive the truth. There is no turning back.

My opinion:

I picked this book up after seeing the movie at the cinema with my dad. I instantly wanted to know what happened next but knew I would have to read the first book before I dived into the second.

The first thing I noticed was that the book was very short with only 179 pages, though the font is rather small, so it only took 2 days to read which is pretty fast by my standards. The book was very gripping from the first page and made you unable to put the book down.

The book was rather different from the film yet it still had the same quality's that made me want to read the book in the first place.

I give The Giver 3.5 stars out of 5 because I was expecting a very thought provoking novel and it was just a nice, fun read.

Even though I gave it a lower score I would still recommend that you read The Giver.
