More Happy Than Not : Blog Tour

Hi Guys
I'm so excited for this post. I've been planning it for ages. I'm naturally quite a happy person, so it wasn't to hard to list the things that make me more happy than not. Hope you can agree with me on a least one of these things.

  • Reading
  • My family (most of the time)
  • Taylor Swift
  • Writing poetry and blog posts
  • When people comment on my posts
  • Miles Teller's and Vanessa Hugdens's acting
  • Watching the TV show that I'm currently obsessed with
  • Sarah Kay's poetry
  • Looking through old photos
  • Sing awfully with my friends
  • Cute cats and dogs
And that is just a few of them, thought that it would get boring if I wrote everything out. I'd loved to hear what makes you 'More Happy than Not.'

'More Happy Than Not' by Adam Silvera comes out June 2nd.

Book Unhaul (#1)

Hi Guys

I'm back. Exams are now over and I promise to be blogging more often. I have got a bunch of blogs I need to write, so having a marathon blog writing session today.
Every so often I go through my bookshelf and gut it an the books I'm getting rid of. I have got so many books I'm just going to list them with a link to their goodreads. And I would like to point out that Michael Morpurgo was one of my favourite childhood author but I have decided to only keep my favourite books by him

Well done, you have made it to the end. The majority of the books are ones that I have read and have no intention to re-read or books that I have just lost interest in reading. Sorry if some of your favourites are on here.

Waiting on Wednesday (#9)

More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera
Published by: Soho Teen
Publication date: June 2nd 2015
Genres: Contemporary, LGBT, YA

"A brilliantly conceived page-turner." -Kirkus Reviews, starred review.
"Vividly written and intricately plotted."-Publishers Weekly, starred review.

The Leteo Institute's revolutionary memory-relief procedure seems too good to be true to Aaron Soto -- miracle cure-alls don't tend to pop up in the Bronx projects. But Aaron can't forget how he's grown up poor or how his friends aren't always there for him. Like after his father committed suicide in their one bedroom apartment. Aaron has the support of his patient girlfriend, if not necessarily his distant brother and overworked mother, but it's not enough.

Then Thomas shows up. He has a sweet movie-watching setup on his roof, and he doesn't mind Aaron's obsession with a popular fantasy series. There are nicknames, inside jokes. Most importantly, Thomas doesn't mind talking about Aaron's past. But Aaron's newfound happiness isn't welcome on his block. Since he's can't stay away from Thomas or suddenly stop being gay, Aaron must turn to Leteo to straighten himself out, even if it means forgetting who he is.

Adam Silvera's extraordinary debut novel offers a unique confrontation of race, class and sexuality during one charged near-future summer in the Bronx.

"[A]n engrossing, intense narrative."-School Library Journal, starred review.
"Thought provoking and imaginative."-Booklist, starred review.

Bargain Book Haul

Hi Guys

Yesterday I did my first poetry reading at a small local café and the café also had a little shop that sold loads of second hand books. I got 3 books there for 75p each with little to no damage.

One Day by David Nicholls
I got this book after a friend told me that it was one of the best books she's ever read.

The Book Lovers' Appreciation Society by Various Authors
This is a collection of short stories from over 20 different authors and I got it mainly because of the title.

Salmon Fishing in the Yemen by Paul Torday
I have been wanting to watch the film for age now but I kept telling myself that I must read the book first.

Heir of the Blood King (Adventures of Adam #1) by W. O. Cassity : review

*This book was given to me for free by author in return for an honest review, however this doesn't effect my opinion*
Heir of the Blood King by W. O. Cassity
Published by: Indie
Publication date: April 15, 2015
Genres: Young Adult, Fantasy, Action and Adventure, Fantasy, Sword and Sorcery

No one can escape their destiny in a world controlled by the Fates. Ancient prophecies are the means by which the gods maintain order. Whether pauper or king, each life becomes a pawn in a dangerous game of control, where moving pieces determines the course of all living beings. The Blood King’s sudden death in the night triggers a foreboding prophecy of dark times, as it is foretold that his unknown Heir would awaken to the dark magic of his blood and enslave the Eleven Kingdoms. Soldiers bring destruction to the countryside seeking the Heir Of The Blood King.

Adam escapes the fires of the peaceful village of Riverside in the night when the soldiers laid waste to his adopted home. With his fate uncertain, the unskilled orphan must fight for his freedom against dangerous enemies who give pursuit as he searches for the answers to his past. Adam is also faced with the challenges of survival against the untamed wilderness and its dark denizens as he tries to avoid a destiny he does not want.

“The Heir Of The Blood King will rise, this has been divined.” - Ancient prophecy of the Seering Council.

“Heir Of The Blood King” is the first installment of the ongoing, action-packed, Young Adult fantasy, survival series, Adventures of Adam.

My Thoughts

I'm giving this book 2/5 stars. This books was not a bad book it just didn't do it for me. I think out of everyone who has, will read this book about 98% of people will love it, I just happen to be in the small 2%.

The main reason I didn't like this book was the characters. For me the characters really make the story. A book could have the worst plot ever but if I like the characters I will automatically give the book at least 3/5 stars. And in this book I felt no attachment to any of the characters so I didn't really care what happened to them.

The other reason I didn't like the book was the violence. It wasn't that it was full of gory murder, just that by around page 12 Adam had quite brutally murdered two goblinkens and W. O. Cassity had described their death quite precisely. Also at one point Adam looks at this skeleton and decided how the man died. Now I don't know about you but I felt a little creeped out that Adam knew so much about how to murder people.

The plot was very fast paced and is probably quite easy to get lost in the story, if you didn't have a problem with my first two points then there will never be a dull moment in this book.

In Conclusion

The book was well writing, very few spelling mistakes (it could just have been that American's spell it different) and fast pace plot. Unfortunately this book just wasn't for me.
